About us

Northern Illinois Diesel, Inc. is a small business in Mount Carroll, IL. Our goal is to add an experienced mechanic to join our growing team.

We are looking for a Diesel Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in diesel engines, as well as the ability to diagnose and repair complex problems. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs on equipment such as light & heavy trucks and trailers, and providing excellent customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance/machine inspections
  • Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
  • Determine parts & tools necessary for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs
  • Complete service paperwork
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 1-2 years minimum experience with heavy truck or diesel/heavy equipment repair
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift weight up to 100 pounds
  • Good writing and reading skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Welding experience (preferred, not required)
  • Annual DOT experience (preferred, not required)
  • Class A License (CDL preferred, not required)
  • ASE Diesel Certification (preferred, not required)

Other Requirements, Physical Demands, and Work Environment will be discussed at interview.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
